Queensland Gas-fired Electricity Generation.
Virtually all of the increase in Queensland's electricity generation capacity now comes from coal seam gas (CSG), apart from small volumes of renewable energy.
CSG is now seen by many as the best way of reducing Queensland's carbon footprint by reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions, creating only half the CO2 that coal-fired electricity generation does.
Many gas producers look to electricity generation to bring cashflow in as they prepare their wells to produce for the huge upcoming Liquified Natural Gas export projects.
By developing electricity generation projects using CSG from these producers to supply small business users, QEnergy is playing a key role in keeping the business and the benefits in Queensland.
QEnergy intends to become a significant CSG-based generator, beginning with our power station site at Moura in Central Queensland, partnering CSG producers throughout the state.
